Kang La Pass is located north of Manang at an altitude of 5,320 meters above sea level. The trek traverses the two ancient villages of Nar and Phu, where Tibetan traditions and lifestyle significantly influence the local culture. It is famous as a “hidden valley” route north of Manang, known for being far less crowded than the classic Annapurna Circuit and for preserving genuine Tibetan-influenced culture and traditions. The pass offers panoramic views of the Annapurna Range, Manaslu, Kanguru, Pisang Peak, Himchuli, and other surrounding mountains. Highlights of Kang La Pass: -Nar Phu Valley: The Nar and Phu are among Nepal's hidden Himalayan valleys, renowned for their rich Tibetan-influenced culture and remote mountain landscapes. Phu Valley, located at about 4080 m, and Nar, at about 3110 m, offer a unique glimpse into a traditional Himalayan way of life. These villages are characterized by traditional stone houses with flat roofs, colorful prayer flags fluttering in the wind, and ancient monasteries that reflect the region's unique cultural heritage. Cultural Experience: The Naar Phu Valley offers a unique cultural experience, allowing trekkers to explore traditional Tibetan-influenced villages, ancient monasteries, and centuries-old customs. Visitors can observe the daily lifestyle of local communities, admire traditional stone houses, see colorful prayer flags and chortens, and experience the warm hospitality of the people of Naar and Phu. The region's preserved culture and spiritual heritage make it one of the most culturally enriching trekking destinations in Nepal. Kathmandu to koto (2,600m)

Drive from Kathmandu to Koto. Enjoy the beautiful view of waterfalls and the Marsyangdi River. It takes about 8–9 hours by jeep. By bus, it takes around 7–8 hours to reach Besisahar, and another 2–3 hours by jeep to Koto. An overnight stay in Koto before continuing the trek.

Koto to Meta (3,570m)

Meta to Phu Village (4,080m)

Trekking from Meta to Phu takes about 7–8 hours (around 18 km). The trail offers a dramatic change in landscape, passing through rocky hills and narrow mountain paths. Trekkers can also explore nearby areas like Chyakhu (3780m) and Kyang before reaching Phu. Overnight stay in Phu village.

Acclimatization day in Phu (4080m)

On acclimatization day in Phu Village, trekkers can take a short hike to Uibi, a place above the village where local people keep their grain and cattle. Phu village to Chyakhu (3650m)

Chyakhu to Nar Phedi (3490m)

Trekking from Chyakhu to Nar Phedi takes around 5–6 hours. Trekkers can explore the beautiful Nar Phedi Gompa and enjoy the peaceful mountain surroundings. There are no hotels or villages at Nar Phedi, so trekkers usually stay at the monastery. Locals kindly provide simple food and accommodation for visitors.

Nar Phedi to Nar (3110m)

Nar to Kang La Phedi to Kang La Pass (5320m) to Ngawal (3500m)

From Kang La Pass, trek down to Ngawal, which takes about 3 hours. Overnight stay in Ngawal.
