Ice Lake, which is known as "Kyoper Tal" in the local language, is located at an altitude of 4,600 m above sea level. This stunning alpine lake is not only famous for natural beauty but also holding deep religious significance. This lake is a spiritual destination for Buddhists. History of Ice Lake: According to local traditions, Buddhist lamas and villagers have visited Ice Lake for pilgrimage and spiritual rituals for about 200 years. During these visits, the Lamas used to worship at the lake and spend their time telling religious stories. One day, during a similar pilgrimage, a respected lama jumped into Ice Lake. As time passed, the lama did not come out of the lake, and the people around the lake started crying. After some time, the chief lama surprised everyone by coming out of the lake with an idol in his hand. The name of an idol was 'Ter.' Then the idol was kept by the lama at Kagyu Gumba, where he lived. After the death of Lama, the idol was moved to "Bojo Gummba." Bhraka villlage: Bhraka village, a starting point for hiking to Ice Lake. It lies at an altitude of 3519 m above sea level, on the banks of the "Marsyangdi River." The village is known for traditional Tibetan-influenced culture, stone houses, and Buddhist heritage. One of its oldest is the Braga Monastery. Trekkers can explore the Milarepa Cave, Mahendra Memorial Park, Khila Gonpo Dorje Park, etc. Best Season: Spring (March-May) for blooming flowers. Autumn (September-November) for a clear sky.
