Kajin Sara Lake, locally called ‘Singkhar Tso,’ is located in the Singar kharka area of Chame at an altitude of 5,020 meters. The lake was newly discovered in 2019 by a group of mountaineers, which is the highest lake in Nepal. From Kajin Sara Lake, visitors can enjoy breathtaking views of Lamjung, Annapurna, and Shikhar mountains. Things to Explore During the Trek: Chame: Chame is the headquarters of the Manang district. Chame is not actually Chame, but rather Chamen. The meaning of "Cha" is "grass," and "men" is "medicine" in the local language. The region is rich with medicinal plants such as Yarshagumba, Pachaule, Padamchal, and more. The main communities living in Chame are Gurung, Lama, and Magar. The locals of Chame provide all facilities for visitors, from dharmasalas to tea houses and lodging. Even if there are unexpected difficulties, they can provide horses to help travelers reach the destination. Food: Visitors can enjoy organic and Korean food in a peaceful environment. Sanga Chyoaling Monastery: Dating back over two centuries, the monastery remains largely unchanged inside, giving visitors a glimpse into traditional religious life. Phudong: “Phu” means cave, and “dhong” means front. Love Lake: If you visit this lake with sincere feelings and worship there with your loved one, believe that your relationship will last forever. Trail: The trail is cliff-like and perfect for adventure lovers. On the way to the lake, trekkers have to cross about four small rivers, as there are no bridges. Despite this, the trail is possible to complete, and many find it extremely enjoyable. Tradition: A local belief says that first-time trekkers along the trail must gather flowers and leaves to offer at Deurali and celebrate before continuing their journey. History of Singkhar Tso Lake: Locals believe that anyone who visits the lake to worship and gain virtue will go to heaven. Tips for Trekking: Carry enough water and food, as there are very few water sources and tea house on the way. It is better to take a guide. Weather changes quickly, so carry clothes, medicine, and other essentials to stay safe. Trek slowly and rest often to acclimatize to the high altitude. The ideal time to visit Kajin Sara lake is from July to November.
