Jiri is a beautiful hill town located in the Dolakha district at a 1900 m altitude in Nepal. It is often called the “Switzerland of Nepal" because of its green hills, peaceful environment, and cool climate. In the past it was also the starting point of the Everest trekking route. Surrounded by green hills, with flat land and a river flowing through the middle, the cool air and fresh water of Jiri attract many visitors. Most residents are Jirel and Sherpa people, but in the market area of Jiri there are also people from other communities living for trade and business. Jiri is famous for its Jiri Technical School, which is one of the oldest technical schools in Nepal. Lincoln Bazar is the main marketplace where people can buy all the things they need. Famous places to visit in Jiri: Cherdung Hill: Cherdung Hill is located at 3700 m, where visitors explore amazing sunset and sunrise views. Kyagnse Pokhari and the Gaurishankar mountain range. Cherdung Hill can be reached after a 4–5 hour hike from Jiri, where visitors can also enjoy overnight camping. Gurash Park: The best time to visit Gurash Park is from March to April, when the park is covered with beautiful rhododendron flowers, creating a colorful and scenic landscape. Pach Danda: Pach Danda is made up of five small ridges. It is also called “Love Danda” because many couples visit with their loved ones. From Pach Danda, visitors can enjoy a panoramic view of Lincoln Bazar. Hat Danda: Hat Danda is the oldest marketplace of Jiri. Chiya Bagan: A small garden of tea and a temple. Kathmandu to Jiri

Drive from Kathmandu to Jiri (about 7-8 hours by jeep or bus and 5-6 hours by bike). Buy the bus ticket one day before going to Jiri. Arrive early to get tickets and seats. Take a bus or jeep from Jadibuti Bus Park in Kathmandu to Jiri in the morning. Bus departure is at 5–7 AM. The trip takes about 7 to 8 hours. Most of the buses and jeeps stop at Mude or Charikot for snacks or breakfast during the journey. After eating, the bus continues through the Tamakoshi River and green forest. When you arrive in Jiri, you can visit nearby places like the cow farm and airport and enjoy nature. Experience local culture and food. Jiri to Cherdung

Early in the morning after breakfast, it takes about 4 hours to reach Cherdung from Jiri. After a 1-hour drive from Jiri, the trek starts from Kyangse Pokhari. It takes 2–3 hours with rest stops along the way. If you trek all the way from Jiri, you can camp in Cherdung. An empty guest house is available for staying, and you can continue the trek and return to Jiri the next day. It takes about 5-6 hours to reach Cherdung. Enjoy the Kyange Pokhari and the beautiful trail. From there, visitors can enjoy views of the Gaurishankar Himal, sunrise, and sunset. There is also a large Shiva statue to see. After that, it takes 2–3 hours of hiking to return to Jiri. Stay overnight in Jiri.
