Dolakha Bhimsen Temple is one of Nepal’s most famous and mysterious Hindu temples, located in Bhimeshwar Municipality of Dolakha District. It is a simple stone statue. The statue made of smooth black stone is triangular in shape. It is worshipped as Bhimeswor, Bhimsen, or Bhairav. The locals believe that the statue has the power to predict the future; when the main triangular-shaped stone idol sweats, the country may face a major disaster within six months. The idol has reportedly sweated many times. According to locals, whenever the idol sweats, some kind of unfortunate event happens in Nepal, often bringing major changes to the country. For example, it is said that the idol sweated four days before the Saurya Airlines plane crash at Tribhuwan International Airport, which resulted in the loss of many people's lives. Similarly, it is believed that the idol also sweated before the devastating 2072 earthquake in Nepal, which caused huge loss of life and property. In the same way, it is said that the idol sweated on Magh 1 and 15 of 2057 B.S., and about four months later, the Royal Massacre occurred, in which Nepal lost its king and the royal family. There are many such cases that people connect with this temple and the country’s major events. History of Dolakha Bhimsen Temple: In the medieval period, Dolakha was established as a commercial center, as the trade route between India and Tibet passed through the region. One day, a group of porters was cooking rice at the site where the temple now stands, using three triangular-shaped stones to make a stove. When it was time to serve the rice, one side remained uncooked. In anger, one of the porter struck the stones, and milk began flowing from it. Realizing his mistake, the porter felt guilty and started worshipping the stone. It was then established as Lord Bhimeswor, and since that time, people have been worshipping the statue as Lord Bhimeswor. Locals continue to believe this story to this day.
